The main fabrics used in their designs are silk and bamboo jersey. The silk is produced in India and while silk does not yet have its own certification, the silk is produced naturally using organic compost, resins and berries. The whole process involves two small producer groups which have been set up by the silk supplier and which are inspected every three-four months. Eco Boudoir have a strict no pesticides, no methadone, no bleach and no bonded child labour for the production of their silk. The silk is digitally printed which is the most environmentally friendly way to keep the designs colourfast and permanent. Printed in the UK the process uses less water than traditional silk-screen printing. The water from the printing plant is tested weekly in order to make sure no pollution. Bamboo is grown without the need of pesticides or fertilisers. Eco Boudoir ensure that the bamboo jersey they use is sourced from reputable suppliers who specialise in sourcing environmentally friendly fabrics and who recycle their water and solvents when producing the fabric. All dyes for all fabrics use low-impact, water based dyes. Any dyes used on organic cotton will have been certified by Skal as acceptable for organic certification. |
